Deskreen CE 3.2.16 is an open-source Electron and WebRTC screen-sharing tool that sends a full screen or application window to a browser on a tablet, phone, TV or another computer.

What Deskreen provides

Deskreen CE sends a full display, an application window or a virtual display to a modern browser on another device over a trusted local network. The receiver does not need a dedicated client. Sharing a window mirrors video; it does not turn the browser into an operating-system display or a complete remote-control tool.

Second display and network boundaries

Mirroring an existing screen or a single window needs no extra hardware. A true extended desktop requires the operating system to recognize a second display, commonly through a virtual display adapter. Keep sessions on a trusted LAN, choose the correct network interface and share only the necessary window; do not map the application port directly to the public internet.

Deskreen CE 3.2.16 supports Windows x86, x64 and ARM64, macOS Intel and Apple Silicon, and Linux x86_64, ARM64 and ARMv7 packages. Community and commercial editions have different scopes. Review date: 2026-08-23.

Deskreen CE 3.2.16 browser pairing and second-screen guide

Install the host application, pair one browser on a trusted LAN, test a single window and add a virtual display only when a real extended desktop is required.

Before you start

  • Put the host and receiver on a trusted network where device-to-device traffic is allowed; do not share sensitive windows on public Wi-Fi.
  • Use a modern browser on the receiver and allow the host firewall only on the current private network.
  • For an extended desktop, prepare a compatible virtual display adapter and confirm that the operating system sees a separate display.

Installation steps

    Select the platform package

    Match Windows x86, x64 or ARM64, macOS Intel or Apple Silicon, and Linux x86_64, ARM64 or ARMv7 before installing.

  2. 02

    Allow private-network communication

    Permit the application only on the private network, choose the LAN address reachable by the receiver and avoid exposing a VPN, container or public interface by mistake.

  3. 03

    Complete one controlled pairing

    Scan the QR code or enter the displayed LAN address, confirm the new receiver on the host and share a test window with no notifications or credentials visible.

Quick start

    Share one application window

    Select a test window, verify image, orientation, full-screen and disconnect controls, and avoid exposing password managers, messages or personal notifications.

  2. 02

    Configure an extended display

    Install the virtual adapter, select Extend rather than Mirror in system display settings, choose a suitable resolution and share that virtual screen.

  3. 03

    Tune quality gradually

    Start with a lower resolution and default quality, observe CPU, memory, network and latency, then increase quality only after the connection is stable.

Usage tips

  • Every additional receiver increases encoding, memory and network load; test multiple viewers separately from a single-viewer result.
  • Encryption does not replace device confirmation, LAN isolation or a small sharing scope.
  • End each session actively and check for unknown paired devices or firewall rules.
Troubleshooting and uninstall

Why does the receiver page or QR address fail to open?

Check that both devices are on the same reachable subnet, guest isolation is not blocking them, the firewall allows private-network traffic and the QR code uses the correct LAN interface.

Why is the second screen mirrored, blurry or delayed?

Confirm that the virtual adapter is recognized as an independent display, lower resolution and quality, close high-load tasks and switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or wired networking.

  1. End sessions and restore display settingsStop sharing, remove unknown pairings, restore the normal display mode and safely remove the virtual display adapter when it is no longer needed.
  2. Remove the application and network rulesUninstall Deskreen CE or its Linux package and delete only the firewall, startup and access rules created for it; confirm the receiver address is no longer reachable.

Can Deskreen work without a virtual display adapter?

Yes for mirroring an existing screen, sharing one window or using a browser as a teleprompter. A true extended desktop requires the operating system to detect a separate display first.

Does the receiver need to install Deskreen?

No. The host runs Deskreen CE and the receiver uses a modern WebRTC-capable browser, but the host should still confirm each new pairing.

Does the download require an extraction code?

The Quark entry does not require one; the four-character code for the Baidu entry is shown beside its download entry.
