What FontBase provides
FontBase helps designers and teams browse, search, group and temporarily activate large font libraries on Windows, macOS and Linux. Watched folders can leave files in place, while the managed root directory organizes the main library. Free features and the Awesome subscription have different automation, team, cloud-collection and license-management boundaries.
Files, collections and synchronization
Cloud collection synchronization stores collection structure rather than the font files themselves. A second device still needs controlled access to the actual font files. Activating a font also does not grant a commercial license: each family retains its own terms for desktop use, embedding, web use, media and team size.
Version and maintenance

Usage tips
- A font manager can track seats and collections, but it does not grant rights under a font's EULA.
- Google Fonts and online providers still need version and license records so a provider update does not silently change a long-running project.
- Treat local ports, online providers and team accounts as separate network and permission surfaces, and allow only the integrations the workflow needs.
Troubleshooting and uninstall
Why is an activated font missing from the design application?
Restart the target application, confirm FontBase is running or configured to keep fonts active after exit, then check duplicate family names, font cache and damaged files.
Why did fonts disappear after changing the root folder?
Check the previous root and restore from the independent backup. Move and compare files manually before switching the collection; do not sync an empty new root back over the original library.
